Compressed Air Vehicles

Necessity of Compressed Air Vehicles:

As we all know that, world is now facing the huge energy crisis problems. And these problems are going to be more and more severe in near future. The main cause of these problems is CONVENTIONAL FUELS. or rather I must say, High Costs of Conventional Fuels like oil, natural gas, coal etc. and High Potential of The Fuels to Hazard the Environment in the form of Air Pollution, Water Pollution, Ground Pollution and Global Warming.

Human is in search of new ways like non-conventional ways like solar energy applications, wind energy, geothermal energy etc.

So, in short need of Compressed Air Vehicle could be defined in simple words as below:

Environmental hazards due to exhaust emissions.

Conventional fuels are costlier.

Insufficiency of conventional fuel resources.

Compressed Air Vehicle!!!

Here we go with simple description of Compressed Air Propelled Car.

  1. They are economical.
  2. They require short recharge time.
  3. They are safe.
  4. They have high efficiency.
  5. They are ecological.
  6. They are not polluting.
  7. They may use dual fuel system.
  8. They use renewable energy.

Components of Compressed Air Vehicle:

Here are major components of C.A.V.

  • Air Tank.
  • Air Injector.
  • Heat Exchanger.
  • Motor.
  • Compressor.
  • Engine of Compressed Air Vehicle.

Working of Compressed Air Vehicle:

1. Compressed Air Vehicle working is shown in the above figure.

2. Compressed Air Vehicle could be refilled with air by 2 ways. First is to fill the pre-compressed air and other is to compress the air by means of compressor driven by the motor.

3. This compressed air is stored by the air tank for further use. Air tank stores air at very high pressure and try to maintain at low temperature. This increases the thermal efficiency of the system.

4. From the air tank air is sent to cylinder or it could be said engine of compressed air vehicle, through fuel injector.

5. Here in engine pressure energy of the air is used. And low pressure air is available at output which could be exhausted to atmosphere with no harm to it.

Advantages:

  1. Ecological way of using good energy.
  2. It is renewable energy source.
  3. It is vary affordable economically.
  4. It does not need refilling but it is called as charging of C.A.V.
  5. Zero Emission and environmental friendly.
  6. Dual Energy System.
  7. Low Operating and Capital Cost.

Seminar on Compressed Air Vehicle:

Compressed air vehicle is good mechanical engineering seminar topic. This topic will include following major points.

  1. Need for replacement of conventional fuels.
  2. Necessity of C.A.V.
  3. Components of C.A.V.
  4. Working of the C.A.V.
  5. Working of the Engine.
  6. Refueling methods of C.A.V.
  7. Conclusion.
