Air Handling Unit In Brief

Air Handling Unit:

Air handling unit is a unit which takes air from atmosphere & discharges air to the required place with predetermined velocity, pressure & relative humidity of air. Generally, AHU consists of inlet & exhaust fan, air handler coils, Duct & air supplying devices.

Air handling unit is inevitable part of air conditioning of buildings which could be used for many different kinds of purposes like, some mechanical production process or library or college or hospital or conference hall of company etc. As importance of operation increases, it becomes vital to work upon performance of air handling unit of particular location.

Some major things to concentrate when we think on Air Handling Unit are

  • Low frequency noise.
  • Excessive vibration.
  • High energy consumption by fan motor.

Design Components of Air Handling Unit:

  1. Fan.
  2. Duct.
  3. Air Handler Coils.

FAN:

Fan seems to be one of most important component of Air Handling Unit. Here are mentioned some major things related to Fan Design and AHU.

* Performance.

* Inlet Bell and Cone.

* Fin Struts.

* Vane Spacing.

* Wheel.

* Tip Clearance.

* Diffuser Section.

Below Are Mentioned Some Special Air Handling Unit Designs:

  1. Axial Fan System.
  2. Centrifugal Fan System.
  3. Conventional System.
  4. Diffusion System For Centrifugal Fan.
