New Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme 2011 Model – Review and Comparison

One of my favorite bike, CBZ Xtreme has gone many changes recently. Now it is evolved to CBZ xtreme 2011 model.

Old CBZ xtreme to New CBZ xtreme 2011:

Most important thing about the change is, there are no mechanical changes done. All improvements are done on visual or aesthetic side.

New CBZ xtreme 2011 Model Features

1. Digital-Analog Speedometer:

New CBZ xtreme 2011 console is very improved from the older. Speedometer is digital while rpm and fuel indicators are analog. All the indicators are placed very sleek and attractive way. Apart from better console it is also provided with Secure Ignition Switch with Key Shutter.

2. New Design of Alloy Wheels:

Old CBZ xtreme was also equipped with alloy wheels. New version is having 5 spoke cast alloy wheels with new star like design.

3. Both Disc Breaks:

This is another important functionality improvement. Both disc break will definitely provide better control over this powerful bike.

4. Anti Drag Fuel Tank:

Most eye catching part of any bike is fuel tank. How can the visual improvements go without modifying fuel tank! New fuel tank looks much better. It is also provided with Hunk like things on it. But it fits well and looks much better than Hunk. This makes bike’s neck looks even broader and stronger.

5. Better Headlight and Tail Lamp:

New headlight and tail lamp designs are incorporated into new CBZ xtreme 2011.

About Competition:

Though, there are many 150cc bikes in Indian market, (Apache 160, FZ, SZ, Pulsar, Unicorn) most of people are Confused Between CBZ xtreme and Yamaha FZ. New CBZ is going to increase this confusion even more.

New CBZ xtreme 2011 Vs Yamaha FZ:

At power and performance bikes run neck to neck. Yes there are minor differences, you can check out their specifications.

Speedo Comparison:

Till now, edge was to Yamaha FZ for having digital speedo console. But CBZ xtreme 2011 rules over it with combo console.

Broad Rear Tyre Vs Rear Disc Break:

Broad rear tyre is Yamaha FZ’s unbeaten feature. But rear disc will be good idea for competing it. Definitely, broad rear tyre is still unbeaten.

Overall Bike Look and Design:

Yamaha FZ is very evolutionary design. But CBZ xtreme 2011 comes with good changes in it. Now edge depends on viewer. Some like FZ some go for CBZ.

New CBZ Xtreme 2011 Price:

Approximate cost of New CBZ Xtreme 2011 in major cities of India is…

  1. Delhi: 69000 INR.
  2. Mumbai: 72000 INR.
  3. Chennai: 69000 INR.
  4. Kolkata: 68500 INR.

So…what do you think about new CBZ xtreme 2011. Speak out in comments below. And Live Off The Edge!

I think, height is the only differentiating factor for both the bikes..
a short guy will be able to ride FZ-S more comfortably then CBZ

  2. Ranjith says:

was confused with fzs and cbz …

i’m 6ft tall.. and most of the driving will be to city or to office… and also considering pillion comfort… so i guess cbz extreme will suit me better than fzs.. . any comments or advice ?
i need to book the bike in 2 days

  3. ramesh says:

  4. pavan says:

    hi every one
i am a proud owner of the new cbz xtreme.
i am very much satisfied with the overall performance of this bike but the only problem is the weight of this beast. its a 150 kilo bike and very hard to handle .
even though i hit gym regularly i feel a bit problematic to handle this bike, anyway u are not gona feel its heaviness when u r riding it.
other than this problem every thing else is perfect and i like it.
this machine is easy to handle even at 110+ kmph ,there are no maintenance issues .
    i luv hero honda .

    • Mayank sethi says:

Hey plz tell me about cbz
I owned it but not satisfied till yet
      Its vibration,noise etc

      • Jagadeesh K says:

it is due to engine bolts. If they are loose engine transmits vibrations to whole chasis. I too had same problem and got it fixed after tightening up the bolts. I took cbz xtreme 2011 model 5months back. I touched max. 114kmph speed. Its very smooth. I love it. CBZ Rocks!!!

    • shyam says:

Me also a proud owner of cbz extreme. It’s very much better than FZ in all aspects . Very comfortable ride and FZ is having problem with initial pulling . Only the better look is for FZ. In allaspects CBZ is good. So i prefer CBZ

      • Rahul says:

CBZ extreme new model perform soo nice its looking awesome to compare FZ & good comfortable to drive, and milage its giving for me 53 on city traffic. But don’t go for back disc bcoz while compare to single disc milage will be reduce.

        • Kiran says:

          Buddy..!

I haven’t rode Pulsar 135 a lot! But some things, I wanna share!

It is totally new bike sold by Bajaj with Brand Name Pulsar.

Good riding posture, good performance (powerwise), Different Sporty Look, good enough tyre thickness.

I don’t see any competitor to Pulsar 135 in 135cc range, not even Discover, it looks dumb(!)

Pulsar 135 could be a good option. But for long term performance and long term mileage please find someone who owns it!

Meantime, me too, will try to catch up somebody’s opinion.

          Thanks…!

      • ANKIT says:

I THINK APACHE RTR 160 IS BEST FOR YOU BECAUSE IT IS 161 CC BIKE AND BETTER MILEAGE

    • mohit says:

      hey suraj the pulsar 135 have not a good its ok because mileage is to low 35 to 40 but cbz have good looks than pulsar 150″ 180″ and cc and the bike have a good mileage between 45 to 50 its truth {i have the cbz new model}
      now its own you which one you like {and think about hunk the hero honda hunk}

    • sandi says:

no one… dnt mnd…..but go fr 100 to 125 cc bikes like pasion pro, bajaj discover, honda stunner etc..

I bought my first bike Honda unicorn 4 years back..
last week i also bought new CBZ extreme.

i am riding my new bike from last week. i covered around 400 KM in 7 days.

as compared to unicorn, Unicorn is much better in comfort and stability on road. i have drove unicorn for 50000 KM. even then it is as fresh as new one..

i will switch back to my unicorn and give the new CBZ to my brother.

i will rate unicorn as a better bike than CBZ in comfort, stability and milage.

  23. AJ says:

I got ma cbz xtreme 2011 model last week, n it feels good to ride. I love the height of the bike. But i don’t like few things , the head light is not gud enough both by performance and looks, i think pulsar 150 has much brighter light than this even both has same 35wt of lamp. And another i can not set the clock in digital of my console. so if any one know about that plz help me with it.

And the other major thing is the milage, I filled tank full of petrol and i only rode 87km but the fuel indicator decreased by 20%, so it seems it’s giving below 30 of mileage, what should i do to increase it.

  24. Kamalesh Adhithan says:

  26. yeskay says:

Hi Everyone yesterday i got my first bike CBZ XTREME!!! I love this bike. I have read lots of reviews and decided to go for this Cbz. I am concerned of sporty look, pick up and performance this bike gives all these and also riding comfort what else you need. My height is only 5.6 and im 63 kgs only but still i have no problem riding this and can easily support both the legs. I got impressed by the black and red dual color old cbz but the 2011 model is updated one and advanced as of now so happy to take this one and trust me it really looks good. I wish all who is gonna buy this bike like me. After going some miles I will let you know what im upto with my Cbz. Thank you guyZ!!!

    • Rahul (Pune) says:

      Hi Yeskay!!
Need an update on your CBZ. I am the same height and weight as yours. Planning to buy the new Xtreme. Since there is no kick, do you think it is gonna face up any problem after say 1 year of purchase. Any other feedback will be useful.

    • AJ says:

exactly same issue i am facing with my new cbz xtreme, i m not sure about the milage, it looks lyk 35-38kmpl. I already drove 380km. But I am really worried about the vibration issue above 50. Pick up is less than pulsar but that’s ok for me.

  35. kiruba says:

i wanna purchase in new cbz….. but doesn’t have a kick starter what can i do…….

    • Arun says:

There no issues without kick starter because in this bike they are using new type of solid battery. This battery have no issues with water , snow etc…. go with CBZ…..

  36. prasad says:

I owned this from past 3 months. Mileage, comfort Etc are good … I found problem with Air leakage rear wheel. [i meet some other guys also facing same problem who i met at service center] . Better to check with ore people before going for this bike. Regarding this issue service is not good … showroom guys saying to go to MRF service….

  37. Rukshan says:

    Hi guys,

Need some advice. I am planning on getting the new Extreme but my only concern is the rear tire being comparatively slim. Will it effect road grip during high speed ? And what about stability due to that ?
Value any feedback real fast because I need to buy in a few days.
    Thanks.

      Delhi: 69k
      Mumbai: 72.5k
      Kolkata: 68.5k
      Chennai: 69k

Do some cost research around, go to other dealers, then only go forth!
      Good Luck for your bike!

  50. pravin says:

i am totally confused about cbz extream and karizma r
which is the best bikes in this two option
please suggest me any good option for me

    • sree says:

cbz xtreme hav 150 cc.so you can consider other bikes also…apache 160 rtr and new pulsar 150cc.In cbz xtreme the changes only in looks, they not changed engine performance and cbz hav 150 kgs so the advantage is you never feel the vibrations on top speed. In new pulsar 150 has more refined engine and touch the top speed of 115,gives the average millege of 55kmpl.Then come to the apache 160 rtr, its weight is 137kgs and also we can check with 150cc segment apache gives more raw power and gives average millege of 50kmpl,and its having a sporty look.So before take the new bike consider your usage. My opinion apache 160rtr best in this class.

  51. Yogesh says:

Earlier i had rtr 160 and then looked for better bike. just got new cbz, and problems are being faced.

    @ paint is fadding
    @ low mileage
@ Digital meter and rear disk are not up to mark as company calmed

even we don’t ad any single electronic accessories into bike if do battery “ka band baj jaata hai….”

I believe pulsar and rtr are the best bike in this segment as per speed and mileage.

  52. Aneez says:

i am gonna take a bike..

i am 5.6 ft long and wt is 52 kg. and confused between pulsar 150 and new cbz xtreem please suggest me which one will be better for me and which one can i handle perfectly
as cbz has no option for kick is there can be any problem for future without kick in bike.
i am going to buy next month.
please advise me for the following questions

1 we must have kick option or not be problematic forever in future ?
2 which bike should i buy according to my height and weight. ?
3 which bike’s engine is long life and minimum maintenance and give better mileage above 45 kmpl ?
4 without kick which problem can occur in future please mention its my first bike. ?

  54. Bharat ahir says:

My new cbz gives 56+ average.
It is to much then expected!!

    • Rahul (Pune) says:

Hey Bharat, Can you please post some tricks to acheive that much of mileage (i.e. more than 50).
Did you get your engine tuned during the service to deliver more mileage. It will be really helpful if you can throw some light on this.

  57. Shubham says:

i am goona to have a bike but confused between cbz xtreme , glamur and pulsar 150 my height is 5feet 6inch and 65 in weight which one i should buy and what is milage of xtreme in city please help me

  58. Rahul (Pune) says:

Hi Guys, its great to see wonderful discussion here. Please help me also with my queries.

I am 5’6 tall and 64 Kgs. Athelic Build.
I am going to buy my first bike (of my hard-earned money :) ) and my bike will be more important to me than my girl-friend.
Beacuse of my average height, I am not considering anything above 150 cc segment and not under 135 cc segment.

I am planning to go for the new CBZ xtreme 2011 model but I am not sure whether the absence of kick start is fine or can be problamatic later on. Other option is Pulsar 135. (not including Unicorn cos it doesnot give Nitrox gas rear suspension and enough torque, Pulsar 150 is too common in pune, Apache 160 RTR is excluded cos my brother owns it and Yamaha never clicked my heart beats so FZ, FZs and SZ-R also excluded) Only competitor in 150cc is Honda Dazzler.
Now I converged on Xtreme but people have been saying that absence of kick can create problems later. Even a hero dealer said “Kick start to dena chahiye tha”. Because of this my bike finalisation process is getting delayed. Please please please guys give some real best reviews. How about Pulsar 135 cos I think New Xtreme is taller and I may get problem in balancing.

All the awesome bike enthusiasts, please help me.
    Thanks

I am going to buy a new CBZ xtreme in some days. I m a little worried that it is not having a kick start. but by reading this whole post i m a little relaxed. But still those people who owns the new cbz xtreme pls tell me that how is your experience with the self start. Also this is my first bike.
So i m also little confused with the color (between red and black) Becoz black is very common but i have heard that red color doesnt looks good after a year or two. So please clear me these things or myths.?

    • Rahul (Pune) says:

      Hi Vishal,
Just go for CBZ without any worries with the Self Start. They are providing Dry battery with one and a half year warranty. Absolutely no problem with the self start. Even after being in rain whole night, my CBZ-X started with a bang next morning. :)
About color, Ignore red becaue it’ll fade in an year. Black has become too common. When I purchased my CBZ on this Valentines day , two new colors had been launched…..Silver and Matt Grey. Both of them look sexy. I got Matt Grey for myself and haven’t seen other grey till date in Pune so uniqueness is still there.
Check out my Facebook profile to have a look on the grey color…

  65. anuj says:

hi friends. finally i bought this bike on 7th feb n cmplt 1300 km with 1st service. n belive me amazing bike. 47 kmpl with rough riding. and mind blowing same balance at 50 speed and 115 speed too. there is no problem with no kick in winter weather also. i personally experienced. yer a bit heavy with 150 kg weight you will it in jam with pillion. bt over 30 speed you never feel like that. really mast bike hai yar. a nice package . don’t wait just go for it. DHAK DHAK GO. bcoz hum me hai hero.

  66. anuj says:

sathya i have single disc. but i rode with rear disc. no problem with rear disc. nice control. and i think you sud go for black. because it shines after every cleaning. i also have black. but red is also attractive colour. and SHAILDON bindas hokar lelo realy mast bike hai.

  67. SATHYA says:

Thankyou for your suggestion anuj… sure i will book black one…

Guyz i’m planning to buy RTR 180 ABS…what do u tell about this bike…is it good to go for it..mileage 40 kmpl ia ok… wat do u think..anyone own it do u have any prob with it//// plz share…

    • pavan tony says:

*rtr 180 has sporty looks…..good pick up …u can expect 40 to 43 mileage in city….dis is only d +ve side……but d bike vibrates after 65-70+ kmph…..engine iz not dat gud n high maintance after 2 years…..u may even feel uncomfort in sitting position

      * if ur not concern abt mileage better to go for fz or fazer..stylish looks, good handling n road grip..u can except 35 to 38 in city

*pulsar looks r gud but most common bike,u can expect 48++ mileage in 150cc,42-43 180 cc n 35-36 220 cc,itz same as chinese bike(use n throw) u may face lots of problemz after 2 years n parts quality iz cheap

*cbz extreme looks r normal,u can except 48+ mileage ,pick up iz not as gud as rtr or pulsar,fz n cbz hav same pickup…body parts quality iz gud n gud sevice as hero has service chains all over india
if u r concern abt mileage go for cbz extreme 2012

150 cc bikes price differs btween 1000-2000 n almost all bikes giv same mileage differs in 2 or 3

  69. anuj says:

shiv my elder bro has apache 180. nice bike. bt vibration problem at 70, 80 speed. and tires are not too good. but sporty look attracts. pick up is so good. but more and expensive maintenance after 2 years. good mileage . but vibration problem will disappoint you. and get ready for high back pain. if you wanna 180 my advise is go for pulsur. good tire grip and too good control. although apache is not bad and can easily beat pulsur.

  70. shiv says:

@ anuj thanq for ur suggestion..yeah some of my frnds were told same thing……

I bought a Yamaha Fz s bike last December. First sessions during the services during the services, I drived in 40kmph. Normal speed. But after 3rd service, I tried to ride in high speed. So there was a vibrate when the speed is crossing 56 – 57 kmph. Then again it is ok. But when I reach to 70 kmph its again vibrating continuously. Can’t ride more speed. I’m suffering with this problem. Please if you have a solution tell me. Thanks!
