Semitron ESd (electrostatic discharge – also known as static electricity) is a family of static dissipative products that were designed to be used when there are problems with electrical discharge in operation. These products are often utilized for sensitive electronic components, examples of which include hard disk drives, circuit boards, and integrated circuits. It can help protect against static electricity damage that can damage these electrical devices.
Semitron products are an ideal option for components in high speed electronic printing and reproducing equipment, as well as in handling applications like IC device testing fixtures, inserts, wafer combs, and handling trays. Compared to many other types of “dissipative” plastic shapes, these materials are electrically stable and are inherently dissipative. They don’t depend on atmospheric phenomena to be set in motion. Furthermore, surface treatments are not needed for dissipation to be achieved. Instead, static electricity is dissipated via this family of products as readily as it is dissipated along the surface.
Each Semitron product dissipates 5 KV in less than two seconds per Mil-B-81705C. Furthermore, they are always static dissipative, they do not use graphite powder or metal, and the have continual thermal performance from 90° C to 260° C, depending on the base polymer.
